Color your world

Dreams are always dreams, right or wrong? Coloring our own world, is it that easy? What would happen if each one of us had got that dream palette in our hands in which there were only those colors which we wished to use to color our world. Here, when I say 'colors' I mean moments.. moments of happiness, moments of glory, of achievement, of joy, of love, of enthusiasm and moments of bliss. Imagine life without any difficult experiences,  with no sorrows at all and only joy. How would that be? In my opinion that life would be quite monotonous, boring and baseless. I'm not saying that being happy every moment is wrong, each one of us loves to be happy in all circumstances, but the thing is that happiness can become really a beautiful experience only after we go through certain difficulties, few sacrifices and hardships. For example, if we are writing an examination and we know the result beforehand that we'll stand 1st in the exam, will the excitement of getting a 1st rank in the exam remain, no it doesn't. But when we really work hard, break our heads and prepare for the examination and when that effort finally pays off and we stand 1st, how different is that experience of happiness. This is a small example. There are many such things in life where we face lots of difficulties, hardships and overcoming those difficulties seems to be impossible and we mostly tend to stagnate without moving on. Few days ago, if you have read my previous post, I was in such a situation I had lost hopes, and was struggling to be happy, and it was taking me so much effort to even smile. But now I'm relaxed, and happy. I don't say that, that situation of difficulty has changed, but my looking at that situation has changed, I believe I can move on and I'm sure happiness is awaiting at the other end.
I wish to color my world with a blend of colors- happy ones and a little difficult ones, with such a blend maybe some magical color will come out which will bring with it lots and lots of joyous moments. How do you wish to color your world ;) ?

I name this part of my life as "Being Anxious"

Hi there,

Long time, no see.. Hmm I've to admit I encountered blogger's block once again, damn!!  Entered here with a blank head. Lately I'm in a state of mixed feelings and emotions, i can't say happy ones. I have started worrying a lot about many things which seem to make sense but are all non-sense. I try to distract myself not to think about the things which are making me worry. But the more I try to avoid, the more those worries pop-up and make my survival difficult. I'm experiencing that my appetite has become very unusual, sometimes I feel like gobbling up everything while sometimes I've no interest to even look at the delicacies kept infront of me. I'm not being able to concentrate. Sometimes I sleep a lot and other times I'll be awake almost the whole night.
I get way too emotional for silly things and get very angry. I realize this is a kind of depression and I'm being anxious about things which are not really that important for which I've to expend so much of my energy. Also, I know the reason behind my anxiety and all this abnormalities. It's because I've quit my job and I'm lacking the most crucial vitamin, ie., Vitamin M. Sunny days have to come back, but I need to equip myself with the weapon of patience, only then can I get rid of all these worries. So, I've to begin observing my self-talk, and what thoughts I create and what feelings in turn are created. It will take time and practice but definitely it's never too late to begin.

I'm back :)

You have been waiting, haven't you?? :) It seems like an era that I'm writing in this space. But believe me, the month that passed was so much full of excitement that I didn't get any chance to drop in here. Now that I'm here I'm falling short of words.

June 2011, is a month which I'll remember and cherish for a long long time. Each day was filled with a different shade altogether. There were moments of anxiousness, curiosity, and excitement and on the other hand there were moments of happiness, love and hope.

Since the screening of potential candidates for marriage was over, I got engaged to the most eligible one for me and that too in the month of June. Yes! I found my man. That's why I consider June as the most special month of the year 2011.

Running on low battery.. Will keep you posted. Until then, take care, and keep smiling.. :)

-Cheers and more Cheers!!!

Addicted!

Maybe I'm addicted,

I'm out of control.....
Maybe I'm addicted,

I'm out of control.....

I don't know how, I don't know when, I don't know since how long, I... I.. I am addicted. It has gotten over me totally. And I still can't get enough of it. I crave for more. I want it to be with me always, every moment, every second. It's giving me a feeling that I can never live without it. It has almost become my companion in times of my happiness, my sorrows, in every emotion. I feel complete when it's with me and it makes me forget the world and the world's tantrums. I can endlessly float in my dreamy world with the help of my addiction towards it.

It gives a new dimension to my dreams and hopes. I don't remember how many times it has made me laugh at times when I was glum. I get immense sense of gratification when it's along with me. I try to convince myself saying "No, I am not addicted. How can I be addicted. It's not good to be an addict. I'll stop it soon, I'll do it now."   Trust me, I did try to give up this addiction, but it simply doesn't leave me. It always comes back and wins over me and I silently give in to it.

Wait a moment! What have you been thinking all this while that I'm addicted to??? Please please guys, spare me the horror, IT'S NOT ALCOHOL. Am I crystal clear on that?

I'm addicted to nothing other than this stupendously, fabulous, enchanting music channel on radio! Any guesses???? Well, it is "94.3 RADIO ONE(Maximum music, maximum choice)".  I can listen to this channel all day. It's India's only music channel, which airs lovely Hindi tracks which range from the retro days to the newer ones and also the latest of them. Not only it broadcasts beautiful and soothing songs from Hindi movies but also has a fair share of the albums and the songs by popular pop singers. Even though few of the songs are repetitive, I enjoy listening to those too. I know almost all the commercial ads that come in between by-heart :). Now can you imagine my level of addiction.

Prithvi is my favorite of all the MJ's. I think MJ Shilpa is quite a sweet girl. And I like to listen to 'Sultan's school of speechhhaaa,,", ha ha, that's how it's said on Radio one. And also I love the pranks that Prithvi plays in his "Birthday Bakra" slot. Sometimes, 'Ghanta Singh' also impresses me with his good sense of humor. :)
All in all you get fulltooo fatakkk entertainment. :)

If you too want to just get the flavor of it, tune in to this channel and you can see how the MJ's out there are making a difference.

-Enjoy,
Priyal

Smell the Roses!!

It's evening here in India. And a little while ago, it rained. I can smell the wet mud after the rain showers. It feels like bliss. The birds are chirping all the way to get back to their homes. Also, the distant sounds of vehicles speeding away on the roads and the variant hoots and horns add a rhythmic edge to the atmosphere. In such a lovely weather, sipping hot cup of tea and listening to my most favorite of singers Kishore Kumar's melody "Pal Pal Dil Ke Pass" is like sheer heaven.

How often do we forget to notice such minute details which indeed are so worthy and which can give us utmost happiness and enjoyment in the very moment by not having to postpone our joy.  It's said that "Live every day such that it's your last". I want to change it to "Live every moment such that it were your last". How true and powerful a statement that is!!  How amazingly wonderful it will be if we can make our every moment count and make it such that we can treasure it and remember it until we die.

Many a times, I'll be complaining for what I don't have or for what skills I lack, or just anything on the same lines. And some other times I just keep on saying 'I'm bored' , 'I'm feeling lazy', 'I'm sleepy' and so on and so forth. I know, this in turn will make me more bored and lethargic but I don't stop doing it because now all this complaining and ranting stuff has become a habit which is as old as 15 long years or so. This part of my life indeed needs attention, otherwise it may so happen that I may feel it's just my second nature to be like this and I start accepting it. Before it's too late, I wish to change it and I want to do it very very soon.

Let's stop to smell the roses. We've just one life ( i don't know if there are more), lets make the best of the days that have remained for us, and spend every moment gloriously and happily.

Learn, Know, Share

Have you ever wondered how babies learn to speak, no matter what language it is, and that too at a faster rate than adults? It's an amazing phenomenon which I would want to explore more about. The learning ability of a person deteriorates as and when he grows. It so happens that we learn various new things everyday, but hardly remember or sometimes we just ignore or we don't pay attention. When this is the case, then the other two things i.e., knowing & sharing are almost ruled out.

I was chatting with one of my friends, and we were discussing about our professions and what all we get to learn in our respective companies and so on as we usually do. He was telling me about a personality development workshop arranged by his company. In that workshop they quoted the concept of Learn, Know and Share. He was quite impressed about that idea and described the whole concept to me. As they say, your knowledge grows when you share. This line holds good only when we make an attempt in the first place to empty our cup, and let in new ideas and are more adaptable to the change by being less and less ignorant.

Let me put the threesome as follows,
1. Learn about something of your choice and interest.
2. Try to know more about the same. Maybe by surfing about it on the web, or reading, or else asking someone whom you think might be knowing.
3. Share with someone who has a listening ear, because most of them are disinterested to listen, and it is not necessary that if that topic interests you, it has to be the same with the other person also. Choose to share with someone whom you think is in turn is interested to discuss about it and also ready to share the same with others too.

I'm thinking of doing a series of Learn, Know and Share on this blog once I'm done with the blog-a-thon.

Learn, Know, Share and no doubt you will GROW!!

I'm alive!

Hi,

Just dropped in to say I'm still alive and in good health. This time I don't want to look back after having failed to keep up with two attempts in blogging. I had been to my hometown as mentioned I'll be doing in my previous post, so still in that hangover. :)

I shall soon take the blog-a-thon running up again.

Home Calling

I'm leaving for home tonight. There may be beautiful and exotic places around the world to visit, there may be hundreds and thousands of historical places of interest, a number of hill stations, silent backwaters, resorts, and many other hangouts, but there's no place like "HOME". Wherever you go, you will always want to come back to your home, where you find peace amidst noise, love amidst small quarrels, food which is incomparable to any other thing you get in the world. What more can you ask for?

Imagining at this time, what might be the feeling of the homeless people. I've seen people who will have put up tents and staying in it. The tents which are not at all reliable in times of heavy rains or mercilessly blowing winds become the homes of the people staying in it, with their family, with little kids, who're just not aware of what this world and the nature has in store for them. Looking at all this, don't you think we're very much blessed to have a place called 'home' where we can return and feel safe without being worried about being hit by natural calamities to an extent or not having to live without food?

Today, lets take time to count on our blessings and lets pray that the less fortunate ones too may be blessed with good health, healthy food and a place to live safely.

Take care,
Priyal :)

Patience, The Magical Formula

Since childhood I've been listening to the proverbs on patience like "Patience is the mother of all virtues
and so on. All of us have different ways of handling difficulties, pressure, anxiety etc., but the only thing that makes this journey easy through these difficulties is "Patience". Even I've learnt it the hard way.

Whenever I feel low, and start losing hopes I rely on one song which really works like magic for me and I forget all the tensions for the moment and think of probable solutions for the problem. This song has been taught to me by S's mom-in-law and I thank her from the bottom of my heart since she has given me a magical formula essentially important to go on!

Below I'm quoting the verses of the song. It is a Kannada song which entirely speaks about keeping patience in every situation. The song gives the message of being stable and neutral in all circumstances.

Practice and then Preach

Hmm, as the title of this post goes, the other day I was introspecting that whether,
- I practice first and then preach OR
- I preach then practice OR
- I just preach and don't practice at all.

And finally, after a lot of introspection, the answer boiled down to the 3rd point mentioned above, which made me feel worse. :( When I wrote the post about making a difference here and U.P.O.D. or the very recent of the posts on Yoga.. , I was but quite sure that I shall say it loudly in the post but also I will implement and practice everything that I mention in the post which unfortunately did not happen.

Initially, when I start to do something which seems interesting to me, there's some fire in my belly and I go for it with lot of enthusiasm and zeal. But this enthusiasm tends to die very soon, I start procrastinating and start giving excuses to myself, saving myself of the guilt for not having finished the taken up task towards the end. And it just slips out of my mind for that moment, to pop out later while introspecting and making me feel even more worse.

So, from now on I've decided that I shall practice first and then preach. And only then can I feel motivated to write everything honestly here. :)

Priyal

Saturday Scribblings

So what's in store for today? Everyday it so happens that I get a 100 random thoughts when I think of what I should be blogging about. And I end up writing something which never will have occurred to me in those random thoughts. The words just flow.

So today I just thought this post would be purely a scribble. I will not be writing on any particular topic. This randomness also should be welcomed right? :) . I wish to write in different genres, on variety of topics. I want this blog to be a refresher for myself and others too, it should be flowing with new ideas, concepts, and not the stereotype ones.

I'm trying on improving my English vocabulary which should add attractive and pleasing words to my conversation and to my writing as well. From now on, I shall make it a point to read every single day on any given topic of interest. They say 'reading' is essentially important if you want your writing to be convincing and effective.

Trying my best to keep this blog going and also any appreciation is welcomed and if it is manifested in the form of comments, my happiness will know no bounds. :)

Priyal :)

Double Treat!!

Today is a lovely occasion. It is on this date when my parents had tied the knot 27 years ago. And the bonding that keeps their relationship so strong even today is nothing but Love. In these 27 glorious years of their marriage they have shared many moments of happiness, laughter, few tears, many twists and turns, with a blend of patience, cheerfulness and courage.

My mother is a very innocent, a cute-looking woman, with a jolly good attitude all the while, with positivity flowing all around her, she has a will power that of iron, utmost religious, and deeply rooted to her values and principles, and moreover an extremely grounded personality. She is a voracious reader, she's interested in reading history, philosophy and books on spirituality and other self-help books. She is a teacher by profession, and has spent almost 30 years in this pious activity of spreading knowledge. All I can say is my mother is a Goddess in disguise.

My father who had fallen for my mother 27 years ago, is tall, dark and handsome even today :). He is strong and courageous, with a gutsy and never-say-die attitude, extremely optimistic, emotionally strong (but is emotional when it comes to his daughters), his hopes always on a higher altitude, a little short-tempered, but has a huge heart that forgives very easily.

Today, it is also my elder sister's wedding anniversary. That's why the post is titled "Double Treat" :).
My sister has inherited most of the qualities from my mom. She's strikingly beautiful, with an adorable smile, hyper-anxious, very much caring, emotional and a sweetheart. She'll be embarrassed if she happens to read this. I and my sister share a very strong bonding where both of us know everything about each other. She's more a friend than a sister.

My sister has found a companion who looks after her like a kid and showers her with unconditional love. My bro-in-law is a practical, responsible and a sincere person. My sister and brother-in-law together make a  great pair.

Today, I dedicate this post to the two wonderful pairs who complete me as a family.  I feel blissfully blessed to have such wonderful people in my life and I thank them for being there. :) I wish my Aai-Baba and Tai-Jiju many more years of happiness, joy, prosperity and love.

HAPPY WEDDING ANNIVERSARY AAI AND BABA
HAPPY WEDDING ANNIVERSARY  TAI AND JIJU.

The Lost Laughter

Do you remember when was the last time you laughed so hard until your stomach hurt?

Do you remember what was it that made you laugh that hard?

If your answer is YES to the above questions and if you say it's just recently that you've laughed really hard, then you get a pat on your back, because you've taken time to spend your life as you wish for, you follow your heart and not the crowd, you don't care what others have to say about you. You just don't give your ears to non-sense criticisms. You're not vulnerable to the obstacles thrown by something called 'Life'. You're an undaunted, and rather a cheerful and jolly person.

If your answer is NO, then you need to do serious work boss!
Laughing is our basic nature of expressing happiness. Have you seen a child laughing, the child laughs with absolutely no fear of criticism, nor worries about the past nor the future. Today, our laughs have faded away, they're lost in this illusionary world where we've become mere machines where we don't even remember that our very nature is happiness, and laughter is a necessary ingredient or say a by-product of that happiness. Thus, all this clearly indicates that we've forgotten 'to be happy'!!. Doesn't that scare you? It scares me like hell. Or do you think it is ideal 'not to be happy'? Some people assume, if you appear to be serious, when I say this I mean literally serious-faced(looking serious), you're a busy person with loads of work and responsibilities and a very sincere person. And when we look at a person who always laughs and makes others laugh, we just try and nudge him or come to a conclusion that he's a person with no seriousness, nor responsible towards his duties. Don't you think, in this case, we've forgotten our so-called very important 'basics'? The basics of our nature, the basics which prove that we're human beings and we've have emotions.

Laughter is an emotion and the very essence of a happy, loving human being. Let's try and regain that child-like innocence we once had. Let's do our bit of spreading happiness in this world by laughing, smiling with all heart, with no fear of criticism, without any regret about the past or anxiousness about the future. Each one of us has to die one or the other day, let's not die everyday, let's die with pride and when encountered by our Almighty we can proudly say , "I've successfully completed the mission for which you had sent me by being happy throughout".

Ending this post with a short message :
" Zindagi Jab Bhi Rulane Lage,
Aap Itna Muskurao Ke Dard Bhi
  Sharmane Lage.
  Nikle Na Aansu Aankhon Se
  Aapke Kabhi
  Kismat Bhi Majboor Hokar
  Aapko Hasane Lage."

Wish you lots of laughing and smiling moments in your life. :)

Thought provoking proverbs

I'm a great admirer of Swami Vivekananda. Whatever principles he followed, and everything that he preached can be applied to one's life even today. Few of his quotes which greatly inspire me are as below :

1. Take up one idea. Make that one idea your life - think of it, dream of it, live on that idea. Let the brain, muscles, nerves, every part of your body, be full of that idea, and just leave every other idea alone. This is the way to success, that is the way great spiritual giants are produced, others are mere talking machines.

2. Stand up, be bold, be strong. Take the whole responsibility on your own shoulders, and know that you are the creator of your own destiny.

3. They alone live who live for others, the rest are more dead than alive.

4. Arise! Awake! And stop not till the goal is reached.

5. To be good and to do good - that is the whole of  religion.”

6. Stand and die in your own strength; if there is any sin in the world, it is weakness; avoid all weakness, for weakness is sin, weakness is death.

7. Neither money pays, nor name pays, nor fame, nor learning; it is CHARACTER that can cleave through adamantine walls of difference.

8. Misery comes through attachment, not through work. As soon as we identify ourselves with work we do, we feel miserable; but if we  don’t identify ourselves with it, we do not feel that misery.

9. Nature wants us to react, to return blow for blow, cheating for  cheating, lie for lie, to hit back with all our might, then it requires a super divine power not to hit back, to keep control, to be unattached.

10. Your country requires heroes; be heroes; your duty is to go on  working, and then everything will follow of itself.

11. Nature wants us to react, to return blow for blow, cheating for cheating, lie for lie, to hit back with all our might, then it requires a super divine power not to hit back, to keep control, to be unattached.

12. Three things are necessary to make every man great, every nation great:
         * Conviction of the powers of goodness,
         * Absence of jealousy and suspicion,
         * Helping all who are trying to be and do good.

The above if implemented in one's life, will bring happiness, success, prosperity and peace undoubtedly.

Yoga, a long forgotten activity

Yoga refers to traditional physical, mental and spiritual disciplines originating in India, whose goal is the attainment of perfect spiritual insight and tranquility (Courtesy : Wikipedia) .

It really makes my heart swell with pride to read the above, in which it's mentioned that Yoga originated in India. And I being the citizen of India, I'm very proud to be born in a country which is a land of multi-cultured, multi-linguistic people, with various traditions, but united inspite of such diversity.

Yoga, which is performed all over the world dates back to have originated 26,000 years ago. There are people who perform it on a regular basis and have reaped huge benefits out of it. The deadliest of  diseases are claimed to have been cured by regularly practicing yoga. Yoga is a discipline that one should cultivate in their lifestyle and make it their regime.

I have learnt Yoga. I used to take up yoga classes early mornings everyday, 3 years ago. But, later as usual the procrastination and the laziness overtook. Once in a while when I remember that I should start overall again, I pick my yoga mat, go to the terrace and do all the asanas beginning with pranayama and kapaalabhaati. And I'll be hyperactive that day with my energy levels reaching their highest. Inspite of knowing about all the benefits that will be accompanied by putting a little effort by stretching our body, why is it that Yoga becomes a long forgotten activity for many of us who fail to practice it regularly. And later complain saying we did not have enough resources to spend just fifteen minutes everyday.

We give many a excuses like:
* There is no proper place where I can do yoga
* I'm suffering from so & so ailment that's why I'll drop it for today and continue it from tomorrow, and that tomorrow will never come
* And more concerned we will be about what people may think of us. They may arrive at a conclusion that we have turned towards Yoga maybe because we're suffering from some disease.
And so on...

This attitude will not help us in the longer run. We need to change it today, why today, NOW! As I've written in my post U.P.O.D., lets under promise that we shall build our schedules such that we can fit-in atleast 15 minutes of Yoga in the schedule. Since 15 minutes in a day is not a big deal, it's something which we are under promising. But actually speaking, when I say 15 min seems like 'not a big deal', you'll realize how big a deal it is when at the end of the day you review your activities and find that you haven't found the time for a 15 minute workout.

Let's workout and stay healthy. I shall write yet another post someday describing about the asanas that are a part of Yoga and their benefits.

Till then, take good care by adopting a healthy lifestyle. :)

-Cheers!

Re-arranging Priorities

Hi,

I'm here again. I realized that I'm lagging by 4 posts since I started the blog-a-thon. I started the marathon on April 14th and today is April 25th, hence there should be 12 posts altogether till date. But, I could write just 8. So, thought of writing one extra post every day for 4 days, to cover up the lag.

This is my Post No.- 9. Lucky number 9 :).

In this post, I want to invite you to play your day just like a movie. Prior to that, I want to put forth a small set of questions, which you really need not answer to me but to yourself.

1. While at work, do you think you spend all your time, every single day honestly and sincerely working on the given task.
2.  Do you login to your social networking sites or chat engines more than once in a day?
3.  How often are you 'not on your desk', whatever the reason be, maybe when you're attending a phone call (not so important one!) or while talking to your co-workers etc.

Questions are very simple. Ain't they?

My answers to the above are as follows :
1. Never.
2. Many number of times in a day.
3. Hmm, very often I'm not at my desk. :(

Here, I would like to mention that I'm simply inviting you to re-arrange your priorities and then you'll see how everything will fall in place and you'll see yourself being more organised and pro-active, in your workplace or in any given place. But, how do we do that? For that, we need to first observe what do we do the entire day unconsciously. Without our knowledge, we'll have wasted ample amount of time. How would it be if there was something which could keep track of the time we spend while at work? Great, isn't it.

Well, I've found a tool which allows you to play your day just like a movie. It's called "Time Snapper".
It's a tool which will capture screenshots of your desktop every few seconds all week long.  Below are a few images to describe how this excellent tool works. The images are self-explanatory.

1. Record :

Just clicking on the 'Record' button once, the time snapper immediately minimizes to the system tray, and silently starts taking screenshots in the background. There are options where you can set the frequency at which the screenshots should be taken and also there are various image formats with a specific image quality and resolution which can be chosen according to one's interest.

2. Play :

You can play the recorded images by clicking on the Play button.
The gaps in the Time Bar as can be seen in the image above, shows the time when you were away. Quite Smart! What do you say?

3. Productivity Calculator

I won a million dollars. Yay!

The title of this post was my status on Facebook after I won a million dollars. Few of my curious friends commented as to how did I win, and few others replied saying it's just a junk mail which even they get  quite often where it's mentioned that you've won million dollars and contact to xyz number to receive the prize blah! blah! blah!.

So, how and when did I win million dollars even you would want to know. Don't you? Ok, before I tell you how I won I wish to give you a prerequisite of it.

The week that passed can be tagged as "Waiting Week". The entire week I was waiting for the weekend to arrive, especially Sunday. It was a big day for me and also to few of my buddies. That means, we were waiting for something special, something exciting to happen. What was it that we were so eagerly waiting for???

Well, just recently I happened to be a part of an organisation, where it's made sure that you go 'nuts over weekends'. He he! yes that's true. The organisation is called "Weekend Nuts". The founders and the members come together to organize events where everyone who wishes to participate can join and look forward to a fun-filling and productive weekend. Productive, in terms of making new friends, getting to know what other people's aspirations are and being stress-free atleast for a day. It's an open forum where anyone can be a part of, age no-bar.  Various events have been organised by Weekend Nuts till now, in which Photography Excursion, Smiley Day, Open-Speech event are a few of them.

This time it was a Smiley Day event which was the very first time for me as part of the organisation. We were deciding since a month, on what should be done on this Smiley Day. We, the core members spoke to each other on a conference call, and quoted ideas for the day(April 24th). And finally, it was decided that we'll be taking kids from an orphanage on a picnic.

All the arrangements were made, by each one of us dividing the tasks among ourselves. So, all was set. After a long wait, Saturday arrived. It poured heavily that evening. And I was anxious thinking whether it may rain the next day also, which was 'The day'. And finally, the long awaited Sunday dawned. It was decided that we'll be going to Vishveshwariah museum first and then have lunch, and lastly visit the Planetarium. As decided we all made ourselves available at the museum along with the kids. The kids were real charms, they were all so enthusiastic about the event, that it was a treat for us to look into their sparkling and twinkling eyes. Though I arrived late to the first venue that was decided, I could gel up with the other participants quite quickly once I reached. The other participants were so energetic and selfless and so very down-to-earth, you can find very few people in this world like them who actually spare time for such a cause and who do not boast about their selfless service.

In the museum, the kids enjoyed looking at the technical stuff. There was a section called Fun Science, in which there were some things with an illusion effect (dunno how to describe it :)). In the museum, there are many such things which have been constructed based upon basic Science. All those creative inventions look miraculous. The one that kids enjoyed the most was 'Mirror Maze', it's like a cave with only mirrors around and you'll find it difficult to find the exit. I could see the kids heaved a huge sigh of relief when they came out of the maze. After so much fun in the museum, we were heading towards the hotel for lunch. In the bus, it was great fun. All kids were very much interested in singing songs, they sang songs, all in one single tone, and danced, we too joined them and had our bit of laughs and smiles with them. The innocence that reflects in the children is amazing, I hope this innocence lasts with them forever.

Everyone of us was hungry. We were served with South Indian meals. It was purely a stomach-filling one. We spent nice time at the lunch table with some hearty conversations beginning with the formal introduction. All of us, especially the chotus (kids) were waiting for their most favorite part of the meal, which was Ice cream. It was awesome!

Next, we headed towards the Planetarium, but since the kids had already visited it, we thought why not have fun in the garden outside the planetarium. There we spent an hour or so. It was real quality time which we spent with the kids, with all their mischiefs going on and the sports they played. :)

At the day's end, each one of us had broad smiling curves which extended from mouth to ear. We all were very happy and decided to organize such events  in future also. Luckily it didn't rain and all-in-all it was a smooth event.

Did you now guess how did I win a million dollars? The smiles on each of the kids' faces is nothing less than a million dollar. It's an asset which I can cherish and en-cash the moment I may need it. The beautiful memories of this event will bring a smile on my face and will forever continue to inspire me to do such things in future too.

I wanted to describe more but then, this post may never end. :)

Anyone wishing to be part of 'weekend nuts' activity and events can get the updates here.

PS: Smiles are contagious, let's make an effort to spread them consciously and generously. :) :)

It's Earth Day today

Google is GOD in today's world as I believe. Nowadays, we can't imagine life without NO GOOGLE, can we? I wonder how people even survived before Google came up. Thanks Larry and Sergey (Larry Page and Sergey Brin are founders of the incredible search engine Google Inc.) for this wonderful invention. To tell you more about Google, this unimaginable invention was founded just as recently as 1998, while the work behind this had begun two years ago(1996) before it formally came to be known as Google. Initially, it was named "Backrub" by the esteemed people I mentioned above, who were Stanford University graduates, and Backrub used links to determine the importance of individual webpages. Later, as history has it, Google has grown by leaps and bounds since then. (What do you think, how did I get this information ;) ?)

Are you thinking I'm going haywire from the title I've given to this post. Nah! I'm not. Actually, I gotta know that its Earth Day from our very own Google. :) And I didn't search for it, it was just there, already on the image displayed above the search tab of Google. And if you too have seen it today, you might have observed the animated image has been done so creatively, with a beautiful and very simple design which in itself represents the "Earth Day" plus the "Google" logo.

I wish to describe how the animated image really looks.

A blue horizon and a white cloud moving. As I can see, the first thing that draws one's attention is different looking trees, with some various shades and hues of green(approx 6 shades mostly). Then, there are two cute looking pandas playing behind the woods :). There is a waterfall, which almost gives a real feeling of the water flowing from above a mountain cliff and forming a small pond below. Two penguins can also be seen, among which one jumps in the pond from a snow-covered mountain. A bird sitting on a tree, and then flying high in the sky. And on another tree is a monkey, which climbs up and down as if running on errands. And there's a frog, which jumps into the water. A fish which swims up the stream, is eaten by a bear which is hiding behind the woods ( you see, a natural ecological phenomenon is also displayed). Then, how can I forget, I could see something yellow near one of the trees, and bingo!, it was the king of the jungle, a Lion! Then, there's a butterfly which adds up to the beauty of the scenery.

By the way, all the actions which I described above, for instance the penguin jumping in the pond or the monkey's actions all happen when you move the cursor on them. Can you imagine, how much effort must have gone behind making this and how many more creative juices must have flown in the process. I think I haven't missed on any of the things from the image. If I have, probably you will let me know by clicking on the link Earth Day and observing it keenly. :)

Well, since it's Earth Day today, how about a brief information about that too?
Earth day was first held on April 22, 1970. It's a day which is intended to inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earth's natural environment. It means today is the 41st Earth Day. But, I suppose, there should be much more awareness brought about this day in the world. Also, I hope every other day is Earth day, so that people may refrain from cutting trees, find ways to reduce all kinds of pollution, protect animals against exploitation and so on, which can further help keeping the ecological balance and save the world from environmental crisis.

Request : SAVE TREES. SAVE EARTH

Hey, by the way it's also Good Friday today. So here's wishing you all a very Good and fun-filled Friday.

-Cheers!

HE vs SHE

Interesting topic? :) Well, today I'm a bit low in spirits, feeling quite drowsy, the upper part of my eyes is getting attracted to the lower part of my eyes like a magnet, what I mean to say is I'm sleepy. :(  Just when I was about to close my eyes, to take my forty-winks I remembered that gauche, I should be posting for the blog-a-thon. Now, when I was feeling so sleepy, there were hardly any chances that I may sit down to think on what topic I'll be writing for today's post. Impossible, I thought.

And then came something as a boon, as if it knew that I was in need of it badly. It was nothing but a monthly publication, which I found in the office premises. The publication was just a leaflet, with only 2 pages in it. It was neatly folded and on it was a stamp and an address which matched our office address, but the name on it didn't quite match to the name of our office. I could see just two words printed in bold on the folded part of the leaflet "He vs She", and I made up my mind, 'this one will go up my blog today'. As the publication was left unheeded, I picked it up quickly and came to my desk and started reading it.

The topic is all about one's(people) perception about a man and a woman in the corporate world. It's a small comparison given by how people think and perceive about a man and woman in the same context and situation. Here it goes :

                                       PERCEPTION
                                          He vs She

1.Family picture on HIS desk.
Ah a solid, responsible family man.

  Family picture on HER desk.
Umm, her family will come before her career.

2.HIS desk is cluttered.
He's obviously a hard worker and a busy man.

   HER desk is cluttered.
   She's obviously a disorganized person.

3.HE is talking with his co-workers.
He must be discussing the latest project.

SHE is talking with her co-workers.
   She must be gossiping.

4. HE's not at his desk.
He must be at a meeting.

    SHE's not at her desk.
She must be in the ladies' room.

5.HE's getting married.
   He'll get more settled.

   SHE's getting married.
Ohh, She'll get pregnant and leave.

6.HE's going on a business trip.
   It's good for his career.

SHE's going on a business trip.
   What does her husband say?

7.HE's leaving for better job.
He knows how to recognize a good opportunity.

SHE's leaving for a better job.
   Women are not dependable.

I won't comment which of the above things are true or false. I just would like to express gratitude to the owner of the publication whoever it is, who came to my rescue!! :) :)

Hope you enjoyed reading this post.. :)

Love,
Priyal

Do you take things for granted?

This is a dog-eat-dog world where people are on their toes to find flaws in others. There are yet another set of people who just don't bother, they're indifferent to what others do or say. It has so happened that we've become used to take everything for granted. We often tend to forget that we live in a world which throws ups and downs at us and nothing is constant. We experience change every other day, but how many of us acknowledge the change really. We live as if we've the world's time, by spending time in quarrels, misunderstandings, and other trivial things.

Instead of being grateful to all the wonderful things we have, we're least bothered and take it for granted.
I can quote few things which we take for granted:

1. Waking up - This is the first and foremost one which 'we think' is bound to happen and is a routine which will follow after a good night sleep. But, who knows, if we don't wake up at all the next day.

2. Our body - Today, we might be having a fit and healthy body for which we might be ignoring it to an extent where we take on bad food habits, or follow an unhealthy lifestyle, or indulge into smoking or drinking etc. But giving it a thought, do we realize how long is this body going to support us when we don't support it on the other hand? Until we realize it, it'll be too late.

3. Relationships - Relationships are the ones which are taken for granted unknowingly. And the sad part is in this process the relationship gets strained, it becomes complicated and sometimes it's lost forever, the simple reason being the two people involved take each other for granted. That's why today we see the values and the respect which once used to be in a relationship is no more there, since all that is taken for granted.

4. There are many such things for example, you have a job with you, while many others are unemployed, you're getting atleast a square meal everyday when others struggle to get even one meal a day, you have a family and a decent accommodation while the less fortunate ones are left alone and uncared and so on and so forth.

So lets be aware of one fact that "Change is the only thing which is constant and rest all things keep changing".
Lets be grateful for the wonderful things we possess and not take them for granted.

Today, I received a very nice forward from one of my friends. It read as below :

TITLE : SEVEN WONDERS OF THE WORLD

A group of students were asked to list what they thought were the present "Seven Wonders of the World."  Though there were some disagreements, the following received the most votes :
1. Egypt's Great Pyramids
2.Taj Mahal
3. Grand Canyon
4. Panama Canal
5. Empire State Building
6. St. Peter's Basilica
7. China's Great Wall
While gathering the votes, the teacher noted that one student  had not finished her paper yet. So, she asked the girl if she was having trouble with her list. The girl replied, "Yes, a little. I couldn't quite make up my mind because there were so many." The teacher said, "Well, tell us what you have, and maybe we can help". The girl hesitated, then read : " I think the Seven Wonders of the World' are :
1. To See
2. To Hear
3. To Touch
4. To Taste
5. To Feel
6. To Laugh
7. And To Love

The room was so quiet you could have heard a pin drop.

Punch line : The things we overlook as simple and ordinary and that we take for granted are truly wondrous!  And that the most precious things cannot be built by hand or bought by man.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, that was it for today. Wish you all happening and beautiful days showered with love, happiness and prosperity.

Priyal :)
